Hälla Fish Conservation Area
Hälla Fish Conservation Area actively manages recreational fishing in the waterways surrounding the town of Hälla in Åsele municipality. Work is carried out to restore natural fish habitats and rebuild fish stocks in order to increase the opportunity for good catches. Money from sales of fishing licenses enables these important projects, such as the 2014 restoration of Stafsele River, after which catch-ready trout were released.
The fishing license for Hälla Fish Conservation Area is valid within the marked area on the map below. The license is valid for all of Hällby reservoir, including outside of the marked area, in Björksele and Gafsele Fish Conservation Areas. With this license you may also fish the stretch of Ångerman River between Hällby hydro power station and the Ässan River inlet.
The license allows angling with hand held fishing rods. Other forms of fishing are not permitted.
In Stafsele River’s visibly flowing stretches, that is runs, riffles and rapids, only fly fishing is allowed. However, a spinning rod may be used if fly casting with a float. Maximum 1 fish per day. Minimum size for salmonoid fish is 30 cm.
In Hällby reservoir a maximum of 4 pikes may be caught per day. All pikes over 60 cm must be released.
For the consideration of local residents, no fish entrails may be left behind but rather must be disposed of appropriately.
